i have had no luck with this bike since i got it, but hopefully its all sorted.

Charged up the battery, reconnected a fuel line up (the real thin one that makes the fuel go down into the carbs)  and went for a quick ride.

and OMFG, its just a tad quicker than my XL175  ricky haha who am i kidding, its a SH!T load faster banana but damn nice to ride, sits on 100kph easily, gear changes nice and smooth. all i need to do is find out what the knock is on the front end. i know i gotta order a new fork seal.

Congrats on the ride!  Very glad to hear it is up and running!

Dude, I don't mean to panic you, but you might be the 5th person in the last couple of months...

Thanks for that.

from what i can gather, the knock is in the suspension, its more of when i hit a bump, and the knock is there when the engine isnt running but the bike is moving.

Hopefully if it stops raining, i will get some more better pics

good, glad to hear it is just the suspension!  I was starting to worry about the 650s.  suspension fixes are much less intence!

well i found out what the noise is.... its the stupid Honda Cover on the Handle bars. taken it off for the moment, but now it looks weird without it. going to see if i can mod it so it fits in abit tighter.

still waiting on my Tank bag, it gt lost in the mail so now im waiting on another one.

only thing im finding at the moment is that its very bouncy

Actually, mine was similarly loose. Look at the sides of it and you should see 4 tabs, two on either side. These have most likely been crushed down over the years to the point you can almost remove the cover without taking off the handlebars. I fixed it by slowly building the tab back into the appropriate shape with JB Weld. Just make sure the upper edge of the tabs are somewhat flat and level.

Of expanding spray foam around a piece of plastic?

Because I installed some switches on my handlebar cover, even with the rebuilt  tabs the cover would still move when I flipped the switches. I wanted a solid feel to the switches, so I squirted some hot glue between the cover and the bar mounts underneath where you can't see it.

OK so here are 2 pics,

All i used this time was some Rubber Seal designed for Window and Door frames (only cost 5 bucks 2.5m so you have spare for around the house)
Cut to the right length, then stick on the side.
It will overlap where the Handle bars slide up into the cover so make two small cuts either side so the rubber will fold up between the Bar and Cover

Sit back and Admire  thumb

you can also use foam but i couldnt find any thick enough

woohoo pennytech!

also, you might want to start replacing the hardware with stainless stuff as you go along. the top left bolt is looking a little weathered.

Yeah, I would definitely go with the vintage wing. The newer version just looks out of place.

Red's good! (no bias there whatsoever giggle)

Looks good.  Nice and clean.

I would pick red as well but there are a few shades of blue that I may prefer.

Where did you find it? All the kits on eBay I've seen are ridiculously priced ($30).
