Just wanted to introduce my self and my new ride, a '92 model with 52xxx miles on it. It needs
a few things here and there mechanically but on the outside it looks good for being 16 years
old. So I look forward to browsing the site and read up on mods done by you guys! In 1987
I had an '83 650 Nighthawk and it was a sweet motorcycle with the shaft drive, never forgot
that bike.

Cheers,

Paul

Nice ride!  You'll find this sight very helpful, at least I have, and  welcome.

 welcome

Nice ride!!! I looked at a '92 like yours, nice, but the owner wanted way too much for it. Waited another 3 months and found my '95.

 welcome Paul!
Were there other bikes in those 21 years?  And is the front fender truly mismatched or is that a camera trick?

Thank you guys for the nice welcome. Lots of bikes in the past too many to list. The VFR
was my re-entry bike 3 years ago. However, after an hour on the Viffer my neck and
wrists were not happy so I sold it. You guys have really sharp eyes, that front fender
is not same color, the previous owner painted it. The same owner told me to use laquer
thinnner to remove the paint to get back to the original paint, is this true?
I am getting a new rear tire for it, a dual sport tire so I can go on the occassional
gravel road. I will post a picture later this week once installed.

welcome Paul.  Bike looks great for 16 years.  The 750 Nh is a bike you can ride for hours with no sore wrists or neck(or butt like my re-entry cruiser).  Enjoy.

+1 on that  smiler

I'd be careful w/ lacquer thinner.  The fender is plastic, and probably would be damaged by it.

Welcome to the fourms, and thats a nice looking bike. Definately be careful with laquer thinner, it will take off the paint, and could damage the plastic as well. If you're careful you can get back to the original colour as long as the previous owner didn't sand the fender before painting.. then you'll just uncover the scratches.

Thank you for the advice regarding laquer thinner. I am not in a hurry to do the front fender.
I wanted to show you how I replaced my rear tire today without a centerstand. My previous
scoot, the VFR, had a centerstand and I know now the next thing to get will be a center
stand!

I installed a Dunlop 607 rear tire, size 150/70-70, it is a dual sport tire.
I saw a couple of guys on the advrider forum had done this and now I will have to find
out how the bike handles. The previous owner had just installed a new Michelin Pilot Activ
on the front so it is good to go right now.

welcome M98!  Excellent Nighthawk!  I like the Dunlop rear, I've been thinking of DS tires for the occasional dirt road, too.  There's lots of access roads on state land around me, and I love to ride them on my little Rebel 250, it does remarkably well on the dirt!   thumb

Beauty. The red '92's are the fastest year, after all.

Sorry, I have to respectfully disagree on that point,  though m98's 1992 NH is extremely nice, the BLACK 1992 NH 750 is the fastest and also the best.  lol!

m98,
Check out Deadly's "TouringRig" for some great dual sport mods!  The man is a genius!  (OK, Richard, don't get a big head, now! lol!)  I do keep going back to re-read his threads, and figure out cool new things to do, though I haven't done much yet.

Uncle Fester thank you for the welcome. I recognize the "deadly" guy from advriders
nighthawk thread, yes, he does remarkable fine things on his motorcylce, I am
especially impressed with the bar ends on his handlebars! Now if he could (Richard)
install spikes on his boots so he would not slip on ice he would be good, lol!
