You've all inspired me to get some more gear! Right now I'm sporting a Nolan modular helmet (would have went non-mod if I bought again), and a heavy leather jacket. No real pants yet though. And need some good colder weather gauntlet gloves, and some good boots (using heavy hikers).

So far I'm thinking of getting some aerostich lite combat boots.. those funky made in japan leather gloves they got on there and eventually... a transit suit (might have to wait until next year!).

But right now I need a good but cheap pair of pants and all-weather gauntlets to tide me over until I can afford the stuff I really want. Any suggestions? experiences? Would have to be really common stuff, I'm in the far north and not many options for buying. Only have the Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki (all small branches!) up here in whitehorse selling motorcycle gear.. a tinnyy bit at Canadian Tire. Otherwise it's about 1-4weeks shipping!

Thanks!

I assume the Whitehorse you refer to is in YT? If so, I guess that rules out craigslist (where I get most of my gear, cuz I'm cheap).

You've already got what I consider to be the absolute must -- a decent helmet. Next on the list for me would be the jacket. If you can wait out the shipping, most of us are big fans of www.motorcyclegear.com (formerly newenough.com). First place to check is their Closeouts and Last Chance areas. But even their regular pricing is good, and I've seen no complaints about the quality of their merchandise.

Then I'd focus on the riding pants. Again MG.com is a great start.

The rest I'd just be checking ebay and other sources, keeping an eye open for deals. What you have now will suffice until you can upgrade.
