Post by: John R. Mallory on May 28, 2017, 06:42:26 AM
Im planning to take my NH to Newton KS, near Kansas City. About 1200 miles. Three days.

IOs this feasible? Or should UI take 4 dats?

Plan to see Roswell,  tay in Lil Ale Inn,  then move onto Billy the KId monument,  stop in TX or OK.Then KS, Dodge City tour, then Newton.

1200 miles / 3 days = 400 miles per day

400 miles / 50 MPH = 8 hrs.

After 8 hrs of riding each day, I would not feel like enjoying a lot of sight-seeing.

So, I'd want 4 or 5 days for the trip so I could enjoy the whole ride.

Ride safely

1200 miles in 3 days is not that bad.  The key to comfortable long distance riding is to leave early as much as possible in the morning and cover as much distance in the first half of your day and take more frequent stops in the second half (i.e. at every 80-100 miles).  And settle for the place for the night no later than 7 pm. Unless you have extended stops for sightseeing etc, you can easily cover 400-500 miles per day.  Ride safe.
