I've owned both, an '85 red/black 700s and still have a red '91 750. They are the same in name only. Both are fine bikes and both have bullet proof engines. The 700 is a sportier ride, in part due to the better suspension, but also has a host of better amenities. The 750 is a more basic bike but it is more comfortable riding 2 up. In a race from a dead stop I think the 750 would have the edge to about 60 mph then the 700 would take over and not look back. I haven't done it but the 750 feels stronger off the bottom. The 700 keeps on pulling well past where the 750 tops out. I would say let your riding style be your deciding factor.

Sorry to bust that bubble. The Nighthawk S has more HP, more torque, less weight, 6 Speed, Gear Indicator, Fuel Gauge, Hydraulic Clutch, Air adjustable forks, anti-dive valving, Better MPG, a Fairing. There's no comparison. And yes, I've owned a 1991 Nighthawk 750, which I liked a lot, but I love my 84 Nighthawk S.

Dont forget the most important thing when it matters. Dual front disc brakes for 700S! A lot better fade resistance and heat dissipation when riding hard and using those things aggressively.

Does the 750 have self adjusting valves like the 700S? If not that is a nice maintenance perk for sure.

A little side by side comparison. Notice 1/4mile times, and dry weight for the person who said the 750 is lighter.

the retro classic thing is selling like hot cakes right now so not a bad move. But the real disappointment is the power numbers! 89HP and 67lb/ft out of a 1100cc version of our engine with EFI. That is pathetic in my opinion. Also it weighs 562lbs! Honda is not dumb though they will sell a lot of them for a few years and I am sure if you look at the profit margins on building a bike like this now a days, they are huge. It is all off the shelf cheap parts and engineering costs for them.

This would be your best bet in my opinion. It is expensive and made for the Euro spec RC42 CB750 so it may need some modification/custom mounting but all in all it should fit the frame and exhaust and engine on our bikes. I was close to buying one a few years back but went a different direction. If you have the money I would be real interested in seeing it.

The RFY shocks you mention, are those the Chinese knockoffs that are all over eBay? If so, riding impression? They look good and price is ridiculously cheap, but I would have to be a bit concerned buying them. When it comes to brakes tires and suspension skimping is often deadly. I would check those things regularly for damage or any other problem that the fine Chinese manufacturing process odds well known for. Good luck and be safe

Those CBR rearsets bolt right up to existing holes or did you have to fabricate mounting points? Any pics closer up? Also noticed you do not have the CBR shift lever mounted, did you end up doing that because it looks to far away for the NH one to be used

haha, once you figure it out it is easy but definitely a pain first time.

Ouch that is a nasty dent! Not sure if that can be saved other than spot weld and pulling it out the old fashion way. Even then wont look like new probably. I am not an expert though so what do I know, haha

Sorry I used to have a whole write up on it in the old Forum, but honestly cannot find any of the pics? I did it about 4 years ago using aluminum and a taillight for a harley turned upside down. I will take a pic next time I am at the shop. I am actually thinking of re-doing it in Fiberglass this winter to make it a bit stiffer we will see though.

Nice, that front end/fairing combo came together very cleanly, matching the paint scheme on the fairing really makes it pop.

Thanks! Pulling it apart again right now to do some touch up painting and powder coating. Also going to either rewire myself or get a harness built for me so stay tuned.

Yes it does. Entire boat gets taken apart every fall and put back together each spring. We repaint it each year, deck, topsides, and bottom. An ungodly amount of time spent sanding and fairing each april, haha

Going through some pics and thought you guys would be interested in my other ride (I know it isnt a bike haha).
Her name is "Nefertiti" and she is an Americas Cup 12-Meter that raced in the 1962 and '64 Americas Cup. Designed by Ted Hood and built by Graves Shipyard in Marblehead, MA.
Specs: 67' long, 13' wide, 9' draft, 2200sq/ft of sail, 55,000lbs. Double planked Mahogany on Oak frames.

I am the full time captain of the boat here in Newport, RI and we do corporate team racing events and daily sails in the summer season in Newport. We also still competitively race the boats in regattas through out New England. Come visit some time if you are in the area on your bike. www.AmericasCupCharters.com

Looks great man. Just finishing a front end swap on my 86, it is on the forum under projects. I put a 96 CBR900rr front end on. Any idea on your new steering geometry with the change? I have a link on my post, to a calculator you can use. It would be cool to see what you ended up at. I have always liked that SevenFifty tank as well been looking at Ebay UK for years, well done! You should see if you can score a set of the Seven-Fifty shocks, I have always liked the piggyback reservoir look and I know they came with them stock. If you can find a pair for a good price, could be a real easy bolt on improvement. As for the rear disc brake, talk to Spacetiger I know he did a whole how to on it for our mid 80's NHS that was on the old forums, but he may have some ideas for your years.

Have you jetted yet? I just did a airbox mod similar to yours and have just jetted using stage 3 Factory Pro kit. Bike runs well but still have to dial in. You should really jet it is really easy takes about 3-4 hours to do the whole thing at most.
