General Motorcycle Discussion / Best retro bike? 2018 Kawasaki Z900
« on: November 12, 2017, 06:58:54 PM »
Love this far more HP and lighter then CB and looks amazing.Problem with CB Honda made old man's bike but forgot that baby boomers like myself age 52 still have blood moving inside and we love the option to open it up!
With CB basically it was well Vanilla as usual.
I was thinking to buy the BMW R9T but love this even more.

General Motorcycle Discussion / VHT Exhaust paint works
« on: October 21, 2017, 10:03:32 AM »
Hi guys thought to share this. After my mistake of wrapping my headers and seeing the rust and damage I decided to paint my headers to protect it from further corrosion.
After some consideration I tried VHT High Temp ceramic paint. After 3 months no pitting, no peeling, no fading. I am very impressed for 13 dollar investment.
Key is to follow manufacturers direction. If you skip it won't work. 1st step roughly sand paper headers to take the shine out and clean thoroughly I mean thoroughly.I cleaned it twice then wiped it with alcohol.
1st coat should be very thin.Apply second and 3rd not waiting more then 15min in between. After everything is painted allow it to dry.
Curing is done on the bike. Directions are on the can.

Anyway thought to share.I am just happy my headers now will last longer then simply exposed.

General Motorcycle Discussion / Placebo or Real? 87 or 92 octane
« on: August 19, 2017, 10:45:47 AM »
Hi guys
Lately I switched to 92 octane and my bikes 91NH runs smoother faster and seems to have more power.Noticed idle increased significantly and I adjusted back down but was puzzled why switching the octane increased the idle speed.
Anyway am I experiencing placebo effect or actually my bike runs better.I know it does but need your guys opinions

General Motorcycle Discussion / Don't wrap your pipes
« on: July 27, 2017, 06:15:45 AM »
There seems to be hotted discussion on internet if wrapping pipes causes damage.Well it does. After 1 year of having my pipes wrapped foolishly I took it off to paint with high temp 2000 paint and sadly good chunks of my headers seriously rusted deep and rusted part has exactly same pattern as the wrap itself.
I will take pictures to show.If you ride a lot and occasionally in the rain that's when it really damages when wet wrap literally steams on the pipes.Whoever says otherwise must of never ridden in the rain.Anyway I will post pics soon

After changing some key components I am in love with the bike.Overall effect just wow rides like a sportbike!

1 Changed tires to both redials and wow what a difference in handling.I can corner sharper think left already there right already there
just overall solid feel.

My tires
150/70ZR-17 (69W) Continental Conti Motion Rear Motorcycle Tire - Rear
110/80ZR-18 (58W) Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring T30 Front Motorcycle Tire - Front

Rear RFY 13.5 inches and handling improvement dramatically better not bad for $70 dollars!
Front looking at progressive be added later

New Chain sprocket and riveted myself! All above installed myself including tires.

New front and back breaks.Stainless front is on the list

Shifting smoothing out nicely with the new chain and my old chain had 3 rings that were frozen in place and could not even move with a mallet.Should of seen this earlier.Glad changed it.What a difference this made rides like Cadillac now smooth.

General Motorcycle Discussion / I find wanting more power
« on: May 22, 2016, 09:06:21 AM »
Hi guys
Like my 92NH but don't love it the way I loved my 1998 VFR800 that bike with fantastic torque and V 4 gear music was intoxicating.
Another bike I lust over is Honda super Hawk 1000 Vtwin.Currently saving money to buy one.
Anyway I am 51Yrs old but don't feel it and still love sport bikes.
I am afraid I will sell my NH soon...

and VFR800

General Motorcycle Discussion / Anyone tried LED headlight bulb?

I like to know if anyone here tried it.Thank you

General Motorcycle Discussion / Prefer my NH to my friends 2012 FZ8
« on: September 15, 2015, 07:22:33 AM »
We swapped bikes last night and I rode 2012FZ8 Yamaha on highway and street.
1st impressions
Twitchy soft suspension made me uncomfortable on FZ and found out later soft suspension is number 1 mode FZ riders change.
Power was ok but not true race bike like.In fact strangely its similar to nighthawk. What really made me love my NH more is how much she turns and handles well despite of old tech.
I had to push the FZ to turn whereas NH is just you think left and its already there.
In short you guys not missing out on new bikes like FZ.Keep your old tech NH.She gets better with age like good red wine.

General Motorcycle Discussion / Is stock Carb set up durable? 750NH
« on: August 23, 2015, 12:54:51 PM »
Hi guys
I read that lean engine causes lots of problems premature wear among major issues.
I am generally happy with stock exhaust and carb set up but wondering if Honda did indeed lean the bike too much to pass emissions and perhaps not the best set up for longevity.
If I keep my present stock carb set up would the bike last 100k provided I do regular maintenance.
Thanks guys

Your Honda Nighthawk / Finally she is ready pics 92NH
« on: August 19, 2015, 10:56:07 AM »
After working on her almost a year finally done almost.
Little background

I bought 92NH with 7k miles in light accident damaged bike.
The guy looks like dropped it on left side breaking few fins on the engine the Tech, side panel, flat tire and dirty carbs.
Had to buy all parts and replace and took the carbs and cleaned.
Tank had a good size dent which I fixed as you can tell from photos.
Overall i am happy.

Little background
I have been riding bikes over 30years.My last 2 were VFR800 with DD pipe and SV650 which I heavily modified strong shocks etc.
So my impressions of NH is extremely pleasant. It turns very easily surprisingly better then both of my previous bikes. It tracks like its on rails.I have tremendous confidence on this bike and stock sound is fine to me.Love the low decimal music. My VFR with DD pipe got old on long trips. I did do the shim under needle on carbs and did not like it.Took them out and its all stock.

Things I did change

Replaced stock handlebars with Daytona one.Position of my hands is lower closer and better control on the turns.
Replaced grips with Benton ones.Beautiful and very seventies. If you have small hands I won't recommend since they are wider in the middle.
Replaced mirrors with cafe ones
Replaced turn signals .
Paint job done by me.Front fender not finished yet.Paint is textured.I wanted 3d effect.Paint has lots of metallic interesting variations in real life which my cheap camera can't convey.
Seat cover changed to match paint
