General Motorcycle Discussion / Re: Still Alive and Kickin'?

I’m committed for life. I just realized I have more $ in my current 2000 than I did when I bought a new 2000 in 2000.  ridn2

There are two part numbers listed for the fuel tank. How much difference is there between them?

I always said I'd buy a VFR 800 if they ever brought them back. Maybe nit's time to put my money where my mouth is. The new Interceptor is H-O-T.

Nice! I'd really like to scramblerize my 2000. Even better that you actually hit some dirt with it.

My day exactly.

Put it back in the garage because it wouldn't run. Hopped on the Super Tenere instead.

At this point I'd think you're out of the woods on the clutch spline failure issue. Maybe one day I'll get the total of all my bikes up to that mileage.   nice1

Love the bikini fairing! :claps:

I love the fork gaiters. The fairing is a bit big for my tastes but I'm sure it's useful. Good to see a NH in such good condition and being used for what it was made for...riding.

How do you like the Progressive rear shocks. I've been thinking of updating my suspension.

Nice bike. I enjoyed that motor in the SV650 I owned for a bit.

That's alright. For as much as I enjoy riding dirt bikes, it's about the right level of investment. Maybe when I get back to the free states I'll spring for a 2 stroke and get it plated. For now this bike is pretty convenient in CA since it has a green tag.

Enjoy the super inconvenient picture link since photobucket is lame.

2004 450 EXC in Bakersfield, CA. It runs well. Cosmetics aren't the best. Big desert tank. Needs chain and sprockets soon. I'm gonna keep riding it for now I guess.

I think everybody gets caught out once. For me it was one last 250mi ride on my old Hayabusa. The tire corded then punctured when I pulled off for a stretch. It was $400 to have it towed on a Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, my mechanic was at the shop so I didn't have to get it towed twice. Now I stay pretty on top of tires.

There's a KTM 450 that I've been trying to sell forever and a 50cc scooter that doesn't belong to me, so I'm covered for a full week.

wlcm1 No NH ?   What year is the Tenere, I have a 14. love it. Just put some E07's on it, work great on the street. Need to find some dirt roads now.

There's a 2000 NH. I just left it out because this is "Other Bikes".

General Motorcycle Discussion / Re: 2017 CB1100 EX announced
« on: July 17, 2017, 04:33:31 PM »
I for one am really disappointed they didn't bring the much better looking CB1100RS that everybody else is getting. Honda will probably take the EX's failure as a cue not to bring over the RS. I fully expect a tepid response based on the looks and how it compares on paper to the Triumphs.

Centerstand is on. That damn spring was a beast  bh1

Spring puller is a must. I don't remember, but I was struggling trying to put it on either down or up and it was awful. As soon as I moved the stand to the other position it went right on. I feel like maybe I put it up on the stand and it went right on.

Are the crash bars a bolt on setup or custom?

I've got a Ural. Flying passengers is a helluva lot of fun.

I like corners too much to ever consider a sidecar.

My first motorcycle was a brand spanking new 2000 NH750. I always regretted selling it. Last year I got a different 2000 with only 4500mi on the clock. Same feeling. It's such a good motorcycle. It does everything pretty well and never gives me a bit of trouble. These bikes are true gems.
