You're the owner of the pics, and they are probably in your browser cache.  Try using a different browser to check.
You can't upload pics directly to the site because that's what caused the entire database to fry itself several years ago, losing ALL of its content in the process.

Ironically though, the first available reverse-engineered replacement x-ring for the 700S petcock was only available from Ireland.


Make sure you check in before ordering any parts -- there have been a lot of workarounds developed for the bits that you can't get any more!

Way too big for my screen.  There should be an option in the process to choose the size of the image.  Once you choose it, that stays as your default.

I'll confess my fear of riding  92NH is being stranded long way from home because of simply old parts.Its fine around town but hesitate going over 100miles from home.
I need a new bike for peace of mine on long distances.


Has your bike ever stranded you?  Do you keep up with routine maintenance?  Your bike is eight years newer than mine and I frequently take it on multi-hundred mile rides.
Any bike you get is going to have the potential to drop you somewhere in need of repairs.  Most things that could go wrong with a Nighthawk -- short of total catastrophic failure -- should be recoverable on the roadside.
If your bike is in good order, your fears might be keeping you from really getting out and enjoying it.  Or maybe not.  A different bike might help you get there.

I love my 700S.  But the handling difference between that and my NC is astounding.  True, the NC doesn't have the thrilling pickup of the S but it's not designed to have it.  I could have easily found a bike that did though.

Hey Kitch, you'll be happy to learn that some Back To Black took care of those weird water marks on the side covers.  I also changed the stock seat for a Seat Concepts replacement, for a marked improvement in butt comfort.

Of course not.  Solenoid is off the bike and battery is in the basement on the tender.

It was cold, and the starter is a heavy drain so it only took about 8-10 seconds to reach the point where it wasn't turning over any more.  I wasn't even able to get the side cover off before it was done.

Thought I'd ride to work today. I charged the battery on the 700S the other day so I figured it would be good to go. Sure, the starter turned just fine and the engine fired up, but the solenoid got stuck so the starter wouldn't shut off even after I killed the ignition and took the key out. Knocking on the solenoid didn't make it stop so I had to just let it run down the battery.
Rode the NC instead.

That doesn't look like it's in particularly fantastic condition cosmetically.  Might have been dropped on both sides (brake pedal has been scraping the clutch cover indicating that it's probably bent, and I don't know how you'd get that dent in the tank except by dropping it).  The wheels have some rash on them.  Turn signals are aftermarket replacements.  I believe it may be a California model as it has some kind of tank under the fuel tank, above the carbs.
$1000 is not a terrible price, but the seller is probably banking on this being (inexplicably, to me) the most popular colour scheme.  People have taken these engines well over 120k miles with regular maintenance and care, but you probably have no way of knowing the history of this particular machine.
Five years ago I paid $1000 for an excellent condition 1984 model with 21k on the clock, a luggage rack, and engine guards.  I would be cautious with this one, but I wouldn't immediately say no.  Remember that no matter what you buy, with something this old you're going to need to know how to do your own routine maintenance and probably be also ready to dig into forks, clutch, final drive, and more.

Not really sure what you mean.  Each collar has two bolts, and then the collars pull off the studs and slide down the pipes.  It might take a bit of prying the get the collars to budge -- perhaps that's what you mean?
There are no pipe connections that I know of.  I believe the system is solid all the way through, with only a join at the crossover box that allows the two sides to be split.

I see the pic that you posted using Chrome, and I'm using Opera.  However, I did follow the link in the first post so I'm guessing that what I'm seeing is actually cached locally instead of being pulled from Google.  That could be what's happening with your Chrome as well -- the reason you're seeing it there is the browser is serving it rather than the host serving it.

Hmmm.  Good question.  I don't remember from when I did the measuring.  I expect the easiest way for the OP to tell would be to check against one of the other, intact pins to see how I measured them.

Since you're pulling from imgur, when you paste the image tag add an 'l' (lowercase L) at the end of the file name, before the extension.  So https://i.imgur.com/UH89Pmk.jpg becomes https://i.imgur.com/UH89Pmkl.jpg
