General Motorcycle Discussion / buying a 2002 nighthawk
« Last post by ed on January 25, 2018, 03:57:40 PM »
Hi I'm a new member, my name is Ed. I'm thinking of buying a 2002 nighthawk. My main concern is can I get parts for it? It has around 13000 miles on it. the picture of it looks good. Is there anything in particular I should look for when I inspect the bike. All help will be welcome, thanks.

Ironically though, the first available reverse-engineered replacement x-ring for the 700S petcock was only available from Ireland.

Make sure you check in before ordering any parts -- there have been a lot of workarounds developed for the bits that you can't get any more!

Yep the 4 into 4 was a bad idea - they never warmed up enough to remove the water..
Regardless, it is a VERY nice machine.
Thanks for sharing the pic - It brought me back!

It is probably not as nice as the photo looks but it is very nice. These 350's (like similar period 550 and 750's) came with a 4 into 4 exhaust. In order to save weight the 350 pipes were thin and very prone to corrosion. Original or NOS 4x4 pipes are rare and $$$. That is one reason you will see a lot converted to 4 into 2 or 4 into 1.

It a 1993. I screwed up the header of the original post. I will fix the size of those pictures when I get home.

I sprayed a full 4/1 system I bought for 30 quid( minus tenner for shotblasting) while I was at it, I fitted new original rear indicators and cleaned the whole plastics on the back end. I love this 80's bike. Wish I could show pictures of her ( black Betty.....every bike has to have a name......)

Ayup, I have a 700 sc which was brought over to here in England. The balancer pipe between the two into ones both sides is rusted. I bought ( 30 quid) a complete 4 into 1 exhaust in stainless...flipping lucky. All bolts came away easy, all four colletes slid straight iut, and new exhaust straight on.  I have fell in love with this bike I inherited. You don't know how hard It is to get bits here in blighty.
